Today's offering is pretty short and sweet. It's just a cute pic of a little girl and her pony. Please take note of matching hat and gloves which were a gorgeous gift from Strawberry's owners. Amy thinks they are just great!

Back on Board - YAY!

Today it was time to dust off the cobwebs and get back in the saddle. Reilly has had a couple of month's off - a friend suggested lungeing him before riding - I poo poo'd that idea and jumped straight on. We had a few head tosses and one beauty shy on the way up the race (thank God he stopped, I came close to toppling straight off the back, haha!) but all-in-all, he was a very good boy. I have come to expect no less. BUT the paddocks are just so wet that there is nowhere to ride other than the road and he is still a bit green for me to be completely confident taking him out on the road by himself. I am going to have to scrape some money together from somewhere and start getting some lessons so I can at least ride on an all weather surface!

Reilly was absolutely caked in mud and I did start by trying to brush it off but in the end, it was all too hard and I left him with his extra layer of insulation! He was not going to work up a sweat so I figured as long as his back and girth area and around his ears were ok, he would cope.

Kenzie in her new home

Kim has sent me a couple of pxts of Kenzie looking very settled in her new home so, I have made another entry in today's blog just to share them.

What a difference a day makes!

So yesterday we were freezing and in the grips of a snowy blizzard and today it is wall to wall blue skies. Much better! We took the opportunity that the weather provided to get out of the house and, as Amy has been pestering me for a ride on Strawberry, today she got her wish. What a sweet sweet little pony she is too! We don't have a bridle that fits her but that is no major issue as Amy is on the lead anyway and not ready to take a contact - she can still learn about holding the reins through a halter too. Nick and I took turns at videoing as Amy and Straw trundled about the paddock. I now have a very happy little girl who is already asking when she can have her next ride! I wish I was a kid again as I would love to be able to ride Straw and have some fun! I could not resist a leg up and a sit on her with Amy at the very end. Bless her, she was very good as I am considerably heavier than Amy!!!

I took a few photos of our snowy mountains as well - the horses are none the worse for the chilly weather and I have a number who are now without rugs but this is not obviously bothering any of them at all.
