A quick update

It's been two weeks since I last blogged but there really has been nothing to talk about. This winter bites! The weather has been as bad as I can ever remember it, in fact, I think this is the worst winter we have experienced since we moved to the Wairarapa in 1999. Our hay supplies have been depleted to the point where I am going to have to buy in more hay to get us through - something we have never had to do. I have been feeding out 120kg hay/day and I am hard feeding 6 horses and going through 18kg of grain/hard feed a day! I have never ever had to feed like this before and I really hope I don't have to again. It really does suck!

Libby is due to foal THIS MONTH! How on earth did THAT happen? Yeah, I know how. She is looking well but not imminent and I would not be at all surprised if she carries 3+ weeks over however, time will tell. I haven't brought her home yet but will shift her in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, I am watching her like a hawk for changes.

Reilly has been lame with a suspected abscess so I have been soaking and poulticing his foot and finally today the abscess showed itself. Even though I knew that was what was wrong, It is still a relief to actually have the abscess come out - pretty sure Reilly would agree that it was a relief too as he has been on three legs for a couple of days and today looked much more comfortable.

And that is about it for now. Today's photos are fairly self explanatory ....
